Verbal pledges vanish

Hands go up during the Jumuah appeal. By Asr, half the names are forgotten. By Monday, the notebook is in someone’s car.

No record, no recovery

Cash-only limits giving

Your younger congregation carries phones, not cash. The uncle who pledged £500 meant it — but he won’t remember to bring it next Friday.

Digital donors, analogue collection

Gift Aid left on the table

25% extra from HMRC on every eligible donation. But paper declarations get lost, and most mosques don’t claim. That’s thousands left uncollected every year.

Common questions

Questions mosque committees ask

Honest answers.

We’re not a registered charity. Can we still use this?

+

Yes. PledgeNow works for registered charities, CIOs, and unregistered community associations. If you’re not registered, Gift Aid won’t apply — but every other feature works exactly the same. Pledge capture, WhatsApp reminders, Zakat separation, reporting.

Our committee members aren’t tech-savvy. Is this complicated?

+

Two minutes to set up. Create an account, name your first campaign, get a pledge link. Print the QR code. That’s it. Your congregation scans and pledges on their own phones. The dashboard shows you everything — no training needed.

How is Zakat kept separate?

+

When you create a campaign, toggle “Zakat eligible.” Donors see a checkbox: “This is Zakat.” Every report and export has a Zakat column. It’s never mixed with Sadaqah or general funds. Your treasurer can filter and export Zakat-only records with one click.

Can we use this for our building fund with large pledges?

+

Absolutely. A supporter pledges £10,000 in 12 monthly instalments. Each instalment is tracked and reminded separately. You see every payment land on your dashboard. Perfect for extension projects, new premises, or renovation campaigns.

How is this free? What’s the catch?

+

No catch. No tiers. No “upgrade to unlock.” PledgeNow is free because it helps us identify mosques and charities that need broader technology support. If your mosque grows beyond pledge collection, we offer consulting services — but that’s a separate conversation you’d start, not us.

Will our older congregants be able to use this?

+

They scan a QR code or tap a link. Three screens: amount, payment method, contact details. 60 seconds, done. No app download, no account creation. We’ve designed it for the least tech-confident person in your congregation.

Can we show a live total during Ramadan?

+

Yes. Every campaign has a public progress page at pledgenow.co/e/your-campaign. Show it on a screen in the mosque during Taraweeh. The total updates in real time as pledges come in. It motivates further giving.
